Our Creation, Our Inspiration
In our previous website post - previous post -, we talked about why the African Women’s NFT Collection is important and what it stands to achieve, in this post, we will be talking about our inspiration and our creation, which implies what drove the creation of African Women’s NFT Collection and that inspires us.
Less than ten days to the launch of African Women’s NFT Collection, it is paramount that we let you be aware of what drove us to create this project.
As a whole, the global literacy is quite high. The literacy rate for all males and females at least 15 years old is 86.3%. Males aged 15 and over have a literacy rate of 90%, while females lag at just 82.7%. Developed nations have a literacy rate of 99.2%. One of the lowest literacy rates in the world is found in the Republic of Niger, where just over 19% of adults can read and write. More than a quarter of - 27.29% of males in this African country are literate, while just 11% of females are literate.
South Sudan, is another African nation with a low literacy of 26.8%, where 35% of male residents are literate, and 19.2% of the nation’s female residents can read and write.
The Republic of Guinea also has a low literacy level, and gender discrepancies can also be observed. With a literacy percentage of 30.4%, over 38% of males are literate, and less than 23% of females are literate.
Compared to other parts of the world, wealthy nations had much higher literacy rates with small to unnoticeable gaps – if any – between the genders. However, the same cannot be said for Africa, as prominent and wealthy nations like Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Kenya are not even in the top 10 ranking of African countries with the most educated people.
Women's education in Africa has been limited due to many societal beliefs, values, and traditions.
The absence of women in education systems reinforced gender inequalities. Women have historically been ignored in the development of education systems in Africa. Women's education is the most effective means for reducing the inequalities between men and women and guaranteeing the full participation of women in the socio-economic development process.
With various pieces of evidence to show the discrepancies of low education among female children in Africa, Empowering Africa’s Future Club was inspired to launch a homegrown NFT project to showcase the beauty of African women, empower girls' child education across Africa, and promote gender equality in Africa and also, to showcase Africa's safari nature.
With all this in mind, the African Women’s NFT Collection was born. The social presence is titled “Artistic Warmth” on Twitter now X.
Empowering Africa’s Future Club is not alone in this. Still, it has partnered with Develop Africa, an organization whose primary goal is to – as the name says – develop Africa, through educational empowerment.
It is with pleasure that we announce to the public that 50% of the profits from the Africa Women’s NFT Collection, will be going to Develop Africa to achieve the primary purpose of this project creation - empower girls.
We at Empowering Africa’s Future Club, will like to implore the public to support the empowerment of women’s education in Africa through us. Together, we can rewrite the narration of African women's stories. Together, we can make a change. Join us as we journey in artistic warmth to make a change across the nooks and crannies of Africa!
